Their eponymous debut album is a soulful mix of folk and rock music featuring the beautiful voices of Steven Forshaw and Amanda Zamolo and the splendid guitar playing of Ross Godfrey.
NOTES
This album has great songs, beautiful harmonies, rootsy guitar playing and organic production.
The band are heavily influenced by the folk and rock music of the late 60's and early 70's but the songs live in the modern world. Recorded in Hillside Studios in South London in 2014 this album is anatomical and rejects the current trend of using computers to generate music and edit it to death. This is a band that can write and play for real.
The opening track Giving It Up is an upbeat affirmation of finding joy and overcoming hardship and loneliness, a great introduction to Little Mountain's vibe. Steven Forshaw's ballads are heart wrenching, his voice and guitar playing reminiscent of a young Steven Stills. Amanda Zamolo's voice draws you into an idyllic dream state on her tracks. Ross Godfrey (Morcheeba) plays a variety of vintage instruments and let's loose with some cosmic guitar solos throughout the album.
All the songs are original, written by the band. The song Catch Me was co-written with Will Sprott (Mumlers) from California, he also sings and plays guitar on the track. The drums on this track are also from California, played by Dan Joeright (The Rentals, Jim White, David Byrne). All those who listen to the album fall in love with it's simple beauty and honesty.
